ABOUT US
The Bioinformatics group is located in the Division of Molecular Biology, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. The group was formed in 2002 in an effort to include bioinformatics and computational biology courses in the molecular biology curriculum and to motivate students for research in this prominent and highly interesting new field of biology.
With a strong focus on education and collaboration, we support knowledge exchange through workshops, publications, and open-access tools.

Faculty of Science and MIOC Collaboration
On March 14, 2025, four students from XV. Gymnasium (MIOC) in Zagreb presented research projects developed through our Bioinformatics groups at PMF, showcasing their work on cancer, microbiome, and COVID-19 under expert mentorship.

Promotion of Doctor of Science and Arts 2025.
Dr. Paula Štancl was among 304 graduates honored at the University of Zagreb’s 2025 Doctor of Science and Arts promotion ceremony. Her PhD research focused on optimizing tumor cell-of-origin prediction through genomic analysis.

PhD student Doris Repušić presented her research on genetic factors influencing COVID-19 severity at the 34th PhD Café, a public science event promoting young Croatian researchers.
